Mothers’ Day is Treasured Around the World

The Mother’s Day holiday is quite familiar to many people, maybe most people, as a day of celebrating love and appreciation for moms everywhere. More and more commonly this also means honoring the people in our lives that have been like mothers to us as well. Mother’s Day is celebrated at different times from culture to culture for a number of reasons; here is an overview of some of those dates and their history.

The celebrations of the present- day U.S. and many other countries date back to an essay penned by Julia Ward Hose in the 1870s, and later when Anna Jarvis promoted setting an official holiday in the early 1900s. The earliest origins of the modern Mother’s Day, however, may lie in the society of the ancient Greeks. The Greeks held a festival in those days that functioned to honor mother goddesses, and human mothers by extension, every year around the vernal equinox. After the Romans took power later on, they continued this tradition.

In the United Kingdom, the date on which Mother’s Day is celebrated each year is related to the timing of Lent, whereas Canada and the United States always celebrate on the second Sunday of May. The second Sunday of May is, in fact, the choice of 82 different countries on six continents. Overall, May is by far the most popular month in which to set Mother’s Day, with 104 countries choosing to celebrate sometime during the fifth month.

In other nations such as Bulgaria and Ukraine, Mother’s Day celebrations take place on March 8th to coincide with the observance of International Women’s Day. Still others, including Egypt, observe Mother’s Day on March 21, the vernal equinox where winter turns to spring; this may just be a throwback to the original celebrations so many centuries ago. Similarly, other dates are often chosen to coincide with the local culture’s established celebrations of mothers, much like many other holidays.

Mother’s Days in many countries are significant gift-giving occasions, & there can be a lot of pressure to come up with the absolute perfect gift. Jewelry is always a safe bet, & there are many options of special mother’s rings and other mother’s jewelry available, which is customized with the birthstone of each child.

The Watch Co Online Shopping Report

What I discovered and what I feel about it.

For me whenever I look at shopping online several fundamental areas truly should be in place.

I really have a dislike for clunky, slow to load, sites that simply cause the whole process to become too drawn out.

Let’s face it, we shop on-line for efficiency and convenience because of the crazy pace of life that we tackle in today’s society. So anything that slows us down is really annoying, even more so if we are going to spend hard earned funds there as well.

So as I was asked to do a review of The Watch Co my initial thoughts were “ok let’s see what you got!”

So let’s get started.

Ok so I surfed over to The Watch Co

First impression… Excellent slick site. Loads fast. Clean and clear layout

Love the shop by..brand,price,styles and lifestyle section. Real timesaver. Very easy.

Another thing I like to do when I’m reviewing a site is I want to see what they are about.

Do they have a concept or is it purely about diversifying and “cashing in” on the online market.

Ok I’m pleased to say that Watch Co do actually care about what it is they do.

Excellent, another site to include in the list.

In my recent experience I find most online shopping sites and …are no exception, do have a genuinely different ideology to customer service than virtually all traditional retailers.

Now this may be caused by the fact that the power is in the hands of the customer more than ever with the online shopping model but I also figure that in the fresh medium of the net there is a awareness that does recognize the customers, and that a higher degree of service and attention to detail is necessary to maintain the customers attention.

An on-line transaction is only ever a click off from losing the customer.

Well enough about the online shopping picture, how about the functionality.

I found the site to be extremely user friendly. Maybe not absolutely perfect but what is? Unquestionably a smooth and easy browsing experience. Catalogue, selections, ideas and sizing also excellent.

Shopping Cart process, really fast, smooth and secure.

Extremely confident experience, as a visitor to the Watch Co website.

It’s a great site actually. The left hand sidebar really directs well and let’s you know everything they have at a glance. Like Skagen Wall Clocks! Now I know where to find them.

Another thing, I think that in dealings with all reputable websites now, the whole issue of credit card security is a non issue.

You really can shop with confidence.

I’m don’t mean just give up your details anytime anyone asks but with this grade of online store and most online shopping sites, the risk of credit card scam is pretty much zilch.

So my opinion on The Watch Co:

… is a great online shop.

Customer friendly

Awesome variety of products.

Uncomplicated to find your way around, select etc.

Shopping Cart procedure excellent.

Overall rating 10/10
